In Montreal, there is a small café venue by the name of Le Cagibi that I’ve played my share of shows at in my time living here, due in no small part to the fact that I live nearby. When I first learned of this place, I made some inquiries to some local folks as to the meaning of Le Cagibi and was told it meant “little cupboard under the stairs”. Even though it is in fact every bit as charming as this name implies, it literally translates to regular, boring-old “closet”. Not as quaint and romantic, unless you’re wired that way…

For your listening pleasure, here is a live recording (taken from a DV camera by Albérick, merci!) Les Beyond live at Le Cagibi

Growing up in NZ as I did, I have too many memories associated with these tiny rainbow sugar balls. Every childhood birthday party had pieces of fairy bread (or buttered whitebread covered in hundreds and thousands), every cake, cupcake and kitchen counter liberally sprinkled.

However, this track has nothing to do with them. Released in 2010 on Montréal’s Walnut +Locust on a wee 3″ CDr, distributed via former cigarette machines turned good, Distroboto.

For those of you not living in Montréal, here is the download:
