In Montreal, there is a small café venue by the name of Le Cagibi that I’ve played my share of shows at in my time living here, due in no small part to the fact that I live nearby. When I first learned of this place, I made some inquiries to some local folks as to the meaning of Le Cagibi and was told it meant “little cupboard under the stairs”. Even though it is in fact every bit as charming as this name implies, it literally translates to regular, boring-old “closet”. Not as quaint and romantic, unless you’re wired that way…

For your listening pleasure, here is a live recording (taken from a DV camera by Albérick, merci!) Les Beyond live at Le Cagibi

I thought I would start to keep a record of some of the many things I have been fortunate enough to be part of, so here we go! As always, you have to start somewhere, but rather than start at the very beginning (as Julie Andrews would), I’m going to jump into the early-middle.

This image is from a long OOP cassette release on Vancouver’s Vidkid Tapes, in an edition of 50, in 2009. A three-way split between Shipyards , Haunted Beard and myself – Les Beyond. All eccentric, all abstract, yet all-consuming. A wonderful balance between three unbalanced entities.
